Iván F. Mondragón

 

Iván Fernando Mondragón Bernal(Colombia, 1980) studied electric engineering at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, obtaining the degree of Electric Engineer (BSEE) in October 2002. He joined the master program at Universidad de los Andes (Colombia) obtaining a MSc. in Electronics and Computers Engineering in May 2005. From 2005 to 2006 he worked as Test Field Engineer at Siemens Andina S.A. (Colombia). After it, he moved to DISAM (ETSII) Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain) obtaining a PhD degree in Automatic and Robotics in November 2011. Form Dicember 2011 up to November 2012 he worked on a PostDoc position at CVG-UPM. Currently he is a full time professor at the Department of Industrial Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. He is working on computer vision applied to mobile robotic, industrial manufacturing systems and  Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in the fields of omnidirectional vision, visual tracking, visual control and tracking.

Fields or work

Computer vision for Robotics, it includes video stabilization, mosaics building, robust feature matching  for visual tracking and servoing, Omnidirectional vision and applications to Unmanned Aerial Vehicles UAVs (rotary wing and Micro Aerial Vehicles) among others.

 

International Stays:

Research Stay with the autonomous Systems Laboratory (LSA) from ISEP the Engineering School of Porto Polytechnic:

  • May – August 2011
  • European Stay focused on the development of quadrotor landing methods on moving platforms based only on visual information.

 

Research Stay with the Australian Research Centre for Aerospace Automation (ARCAA):
  • July – October 2010
  • Researcher visitor under the staff interchange program ICPUAS. Works on See&Avoid techniques for UAV and use of Graphic Processor Unit (GPU) for visual applications like video stabilization, mosaics and visual control.
