José Luis Sánchez López (Spain, Sept-1987) obtained his degree in Electronic and Automatic Industrial Engineering at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) in November 2010. He get his MSc. in Automation and Robotics at the UPM in October 2012. Now, he is studing a PhD. in Automation and Robotics at the UPM.
 

He entered in the Computer Vision Group (CVG) of the Centre of Automatics and Robotics (CAR), in October 2009 under Professor Dr. Pascual Campoy supervision.

 

His research interests are Computer Vision and Control of Mobile Robots. He works with Unmanned Aerial Robots and with Unmanned Ground Robots.

 

He worked from December 2010 to June 2012 in his Master Thesis called "Path Following Control System for car-like Unmanned Ground Systems".

He worked from October 2009 to November 2010 in his end-degree project called "Control System for path following of a non-holonomic car-like UGV". He get the best honors calification and an ISA-Spain Distintion.

 

Research Stays

  • July 11, 2012 - Dec. 28, 2012: ASTRIL of Arizona State University (Arizona, USA), under supervision of Professor Dr. Srikanth Saripalli.

 

Grants and scholarships

Post-degree grants at CVG of the CAR:

  • November 2011 - present: JAE-Predoctoral grant (convocation 2011). Research Staff in training.
  • May 2011 - October 2011: UPM approved grant. Research Staff in training.
  • October 2010 - April 2011: F2I2 colaboration grant.

Pre-degree scholarships:

  • October 2009 - September 2010: Ministerio de Educación y Cultura (MEC) colaboration scholarship. Course 2009-2010. In CVG at CAR
  • October 2007 - September 2009: Two UPM collaboration scholarship. Courses 2007-2008 and 2008-2009. In Delegation of Students at UPM.
  • October 2005 - June 2006: CAM excellent academic scholarship. Course 2005-2006. In Intelligent Control Group (ICG) at CAR.


Honors and Awards

  • XVI Cathedra ADA End Degree Project Awars (2nd price). December 2011.
  • 2011 ISA-Spain award for students, End Degree Project Category.

 

Other concerns

He was the president of ISA-UPM since October 2009 to September 2010. He also was student representative form 2007 to 2010.

 

Hobbies

As hobbies, he practice judo (he is 2nd dan black belt and tecnical sportman) and the personal defence (he is 1st dan black belt).
